Poker is a card game that is played around the world. There are various variants of poker, but the basic concept is the same. The objective of the game is to make a hand of cards that will beat the other players.

A pot is the aggregate of all bets made by all players in a given deal. If no other players call, the pot is won. In the event that no one has a winning hand, the highest ranking hand is awarded. Other poker games allow the pot to be split between the hands of the highest and lowest cards.
Poker is played with plastic or ceramic chips. It is usually played in private homes, or in casinos. Players may bet or raise the amount of the pot, depending on the game’s rules.
